Nissan to Test Autonomous Vehicles in London
Nissan is fix to unleash its self-driving vehicles in Europe for some action in the real world. Reuters reported that the Japanese car-maker plans to outset testing a "modified version of its Leaf compact automobile equipped with autonomous driving technology" in London side by side calendar month.
The trials will mark Nissan's kickoff such tests in Europe, the report notes.
"With time to come models secured and cutting-edge innovation being developed right hither in the UK, nosotros're looking forward to a potent future of designing, engineering and manufacturing in the land for customers right across the globe," Nissan Europe Chairman, Paul Willcox, told Reuters.
Nissan already has some experience testing its self-driving cars on public roads. The company in Nov 2022 started testing its first democratic vehicle, a image based on the Leaf electric vehicle, on highways and urban center roads in Japan.
The new European trials come after Nissan earlier this week at the Detroit Auto Show unveiled a new concept car dubbed the Vmotion 2.0. The car'southward front grille has a backlit Nissan emblem that glows when the Nissan ProPilot self-driving system is active.
Announced last leap, Nissan ProPilot is not a completely democratic engineering. While it can assistance drivers in heavy traffic, it still requires them to go on their hands on the wheel at all times. Nissan showed off the adjacent-gen self-driving platform in May 2022 using a Nissan Leafage electrical vehicle, and announced in July that the Nissan Serena minivan would be the showtime product model to incorporate it.
